Ahem, another reason to preserve our right to buy vitamins over-the-counter:
In a new study, the largest to date, researchers from the Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH) and Muhimbili University College of Health Sciences in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, found that giving daily multivitamin supplements to HIV-negative women during pregnancy significantly reduced the risks of low birth weight and a small- for-gestational age birth size.

I believe that vitamins are helpful for HIV-negative women during pregnancy. Consulting a doctor would be even better before taking in several vitamins. You can't be too sure of the reaction that might occur if some drugs are mixed together.
ReplyDeleteI agree!
ReplyDeleteMultivitamins may be good. But natural vitamins from fresh fruit and vegetable are better, in my opinion. They also will be much cheaper, especially in developing countries.
ReplyDeleteOh, food is definitely better. But ironically, in the US the soil is so depleted from excess fertilizer use and not rotating crops. I'm a believer in the vitamins...
ReplyDeleteI am with multivitamins. They are a huge part of our diet, especially if we don't get much from our food. It's great that it has bonuses like improving birth outcomes.
