Take a look at this photo essay of what people around the world eat in a month, and think about how much of our food we cede to the food processing corporations..,

My thoughts:
- The US had by far the most food and among the least fresh veggies/fruits
- Followed by the British
- The Ecuadoreans look very happy and love their simple potato and cabbage soup
- Ditto for the Bhutanese
- The Germans also have very little fresh food and they look kinda dyspeptic
- Some families had very little food at all...
That's so cool, but I couldn't get into the link! At any rate, how horrifying is the diet in the picture that you posted? This reminds me of when I used to teach high school and I brought 100% fruit juice boxes to a party for my 9th graders. They took one sip and spit it out. Not enough corn syrup! I've also taught mothers who practically live off of Durritos during their pregancy. One thing we certainly don't learn in this country is cooking and nutrition.

This is an amazing photo collection! I'd love to see more detail, analysis, etc. The $ figures are shocking to me. It comes from a book, worth tracking down. Another book that looks head on at these issues is GRUB...Link goes to Brown Email; the one in your comment works if dragged; or just go to time.com.
ReplyDeleteAre you recharged from your seclusion?
