p.s. they also think chlorine might make the drugs more POISONOUS, too.
From the investigative team at the AP:
----------------
A vast array of pharmaceuticals — including antibiotics, anti-convulsants, mood stabilizers and sex hormones — have been found in the drinking water supplies of at least 41 million Americans, an Associated Press investigation shows.
To be sure, the concentrations of these pharmaceuticals are tiny, measured in quantities of parts per billion or trillion, far below the levels of a medical dose. Also, utilities insist their water is safe.
But the presence of so many prescription drugs — and over-the-counter medicines like acetaminophen and ibuprofen — in so much of our drinking water is heightening worries among scientists of long-term consequences to human health.
In the course of a five-month inquiry, the AP discovered that drugs have been detected in the drinking water supplies of 24 major metropolitan areas — from Southern California to Northern New Jersey, from Detroit to Louisville, Ky.

So is spring water "safe"? Or is only the bottled tap water like aquafina or dasani contaminated?
I think because they mentioned well water was contaminated, I think some might be okay and some might not be.
Thank you for sharing this information!
Actually, 49% of bottle water is tap water. I live in Brooklyn, New York City. I bought a great filter that cost me $200, that kind only I need to change the filter inside when the water is not able to pass through. In past 6 months, I already changed twice. The old filter was stuffed with dark contaminations. You see, even though the government strongly sugguest that people can drink water right from the pipe, but think about the age of our pipe system (over 100). And there is Chorine in the water to kill bacterias, including the good ones in our digestive system. So guys, get a good filter! There is a one I strongly can recommand: https://www.marketamerica.com/ningxu/index.cfm?action=shopping.wpBrandsDetail&brandCode=284
It has certification from Carnaforia, where pollution is a huge issue there. By the way, boil water is not safe either. Think about where the heavy metals would go after you boil it?
